I have had the privilege of knowing John Carroll for more than 35 years. I have just finished reading "Globalization: America's Leadership Challenge Ahead". This book poses critical questions that each of us as Americans must answer regarding leadership in America in 2012 and the years ahead. America faces a need to develop leaders who are authentic, courageous, honest, congruent, bold and fearless.
This book examines the diversity of problems America faces right NOW and asks questions about what YOU and I can do right NOW to be leaders wherever we are in the grand scheme of life. The questions that are posed do not have easy answers but each of us will have our own answer to them. The central question is what YOU (I) will do today, tomorrow and into the future to be (become) a leader and towards building a leadership culture in America.
The plethora of current problems faced by America in education, global trade, government, quality of life, environmental issues and the uncertainty of the future give me many reasons to pause to consider what I can do. The questions posed by this book are aimed at America but they apply to world. Who will take the challenge? When will you begin leading? When will you be a DOER?
